Biography

 

Sandro Papais is a PhD candidate at the Toronto Robotics and AI Laboratory (TRAIL), advised by Prof. Steven Waslander. His research focuses on robotic perception, particularly advancing temporal reasoning in dynamic scene understanding, multimodal sensor fusion, and large-scale models for perception and forecasting. His current work explores 3D object detection, multi-object tracking, and motion prediction for autonomous driving applications. Prior to his PhD, Sandro worked on autonomy software for aerospace applications at NASA JPL, ESA, and NGC Aerospace. He holds a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University, where he was a Research Assistant at the Dynamics, Estimation, and Control Robotics Lab with Prof. James Forbes.
